Titans – S2 Ep8 – Jericho Review

Never show people what you can do

First off I need to say Chella Mann is incredible as Jericho, such a great episode and most of it down to him and Esau Morales as Deathstroke.

The thing I love the most about this show is the character development, up until now we had only seen a glimpse of Jericho but this episode gave you his whole background but none of it felt rushed or crammed in, it was wonderfully paced cutting from OG Titans timeline then back further to Jericho’s life growing up with Slade Wilson as a father and everything they did really made you care about the character and how important he is to the other characters and in deed to the show as a whole.

In this episode we learn more about Slade Wilson not just as a hire Assassin but as a father and husband, we also get a bit more of his origin story, this is a very different live action version of Deathstroke than we’ve seen in Arrow, this version is far more rounded in my opinion and we’ve only really had a few episodes to get to know him. Titans Deathstroke feels like he’s been pulled straight from the pages of the comics and for me that’s a great thing!

This has been a incredible season of Titans and this episode has been my favourite so far, this show goes from strength to strength and i can’t wait for episode 9!!

Titans – S2 Ep7 – Bruce Wayne Review

I’ll call Bruce – Dick Grayson

This week is kind of all about Dick Grayson, more importantly the secret he’s keeping that is pulling the team apart.

Dick is going through some things this episode which manifests itself in visions of Bruce and not totally in a nice advice giving fatherly way, he’s more antagonistic and preachy, but it might just be what Dick needs….

The good news is we do get some more Conner and Superboy is looking a bit worse for wear but with the help of Starfire he’s gonna be just fine, which is awesome cos I think he’s gonna be a great addition to the team and would bring a whole new element to the continuing story.

There’s also something strange going on in Titans towers but no-one knows who’s doing it but all eyes are on Jason, is he the reason or is someone playing with the Titans? And whats going to happen when the rest of the team find out about Dick’s secret will he be forgiven or will this fracture the team even more? I guess we’ll find out next week!!

Titans – S2 Ep6 – Conner Review

Just remember that people are not what they say they’re going to do

He’s here, Superboy is finally here! And what an episode!! This whole ep is all about Conner Kent, who he is and what that means not just for himself but the world.

Being a huge Superman fan I was very interested which way they were going to going with this version of Superboy, there’s so many versions to choose from even just with clone versions of him, but this version is very much the Teen Titans version first introduced in Teen Titans #1 in 2003 where he is cloned from Superman and Lex Luthor. I did kinda assume they were doing this version as it gives the character so much depth and character arc possibilities.

So it’s clear that Conner has some issues, he doesnt just have duelling personalities inside him between Lex and Superman, but he also has some of their memories this leads to an amazing scene at a farm in Smallville……I’m not saying much more than that but, amazing. I loved how this episode explored who Conner is and who he should or shouldn’t be, I had a theory of how this episode would end and tie into the main storyline of Titans and I pretty much nailed it, though there was a twist at the end that could go a few ways. Also Joshua Orpin crushes it as Conner Kent.

This episode gives you everything a Superman fan could want, we get Metropolis, the Daily Planet, a brief glimpse of Ma Kent, Kryptonite, Mercy Graves, the symbol loud and proud and Krypto, ahh Krypto what a good boy he is, he gets involved just when you need him and is definitely the third main character of this episode.

Overall I loved this episode, introducing Superboy to the Titans is definitely going to add a new element to the team and its very exciting!

Titans – S2 Ep5 – Deathstroke Review

Boy F**cking Wonder strikes again

So first off, you cannot end an episode like that, I’m all for cliffhangers but come on!!!!

There was so much to enjoy about this weeks episode, Esai Morales as Deathstroke is awesome! sure Manu Bennett did a top notch job in Arrow but this Deathstroke is different, older, more seasoned maybe but has a lot more gravitas to him already and we have barely seen him!! But he goes full Deathstroke in this episode threatening Jason Todd’s life if he doesn’t get Rose back and having a badass fight with Dick and Kory. Talking of Kory, it’s so good to see her back with the Titans and kicking ass like only she can, Anna Diop is amazing and for shame all those people that had a go at her casting back before season 1, she brings the heart and soul to this show.

I’ll be honest I did think we might get the debut of Nightwing this episode but clearly they’re saving that, I know loads of spoilers and pictures are going around about Nightwing but so far I’ve done my best to avoid them, I want to enjoy that moment and truly geek out when I see one of my favourite characters brought to life!

I genuinely wonder where the end of this episode goes, cos I’ll be honest at this point it could go a number of ways but seeing the title of the next episode ‘Conner’ I have my theories, but i guess I’ll have to wait a week to find out!

There’s more episodes this season than last so we’re not quite halfway through yet so still so much to come! We live in a time where there is so much quality DC tv content but I think this show out of them all is my favourite and just gets better and better!

Titans – S2 Ep4 – Aqualad Review

Nice teamwork

Just doing my job

So we leave behind the current Titans this week and jump back 5 years and join the original Titans, the usual suspects are there Robin, Hawk, Dove and Wonder Girl but they are joined by Garth aka Aqualad and we begin to find out why the Titans disbanded and their reluctance to reform in present day.

Seeing the original Titans go up against bad guys and Dr Light in the episode was awesome, you can see how well they work together and what Dick is trying to achieve with the new team, the addition of Aqualad is cool, we haven’t seen anyone with his kinda powers in this show before and his costume is quality!

We also get to meet Jericho, Deathstoke’s son, in this episode, he clearly has a connection to the story and I wonder if the next episode will continue this back in time story or if we’ll jump back to present day and they’ll tease this out a bit?

Either way, great episode, gives even more back story to everything and gives this season even more gravitas, man I love this show!
